COMMUNITY SERVICE
MULCHING AT GLENWOOD LAKE AND LINCOLN
The 6th through 8th Grade teams went to Glenwood Lake and put the mulch down as well as pull up some weeds
Our 5th Grade team got a history lesson about their home town and then went to Lincoln Park and got their hands "dirty" getting the garden ready for the winter
GLENWOOD LAKE CLEAN-UP
Last October, the Junior Huguenots had a great time doing clean-up at Glenwood Lake. It's fun to hang out with teammates off the court in our community!
JUNIOR HUGUENOTS GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY AT LINCOLN PARK!!
Our two Junior Huguenots 6th Grade teams recently helped out at the Organic Garden in Lincoln Park. They got their hands dirty and got the garden ready for the winter. After that they walked across the street and saw the Lincoln School Exhibit. Lincoln School, which stood where Lincoln Park is now, was one of the first schools in the northeast to be desegregated. This exhibit has some great pictures of New Rochelle "back in the day". It also talks about the School as well as other things going on at that time.
This was a good experience for the kids. They got to "give back", then they got a history lesson of their hometown. This was also a good team bonding session, which will help the kids when they face challenges as a unit during the season.
Not only did our boys do something good for their community, they had an opportunity to get to know each other better off the court, bond as a group, and learn something about the historic City they live in. A winning experience all the way around!!
Just as we are committed to academic exellence, community service is part of what we are.
JUNIOR HUGUENOTS IN THE THANKSGIVING SPIRIT!
The Junior Huguenots didn't have a game on the day before Thanksgiving, but it was another good day for the program! The Seventh and Eighth Grade teams got together for a successful clothing drive, which resulted in them giving a beautiful "assist" for underprivileged children. The players each collected clothes from friends and family. They then brought them to the New Rochelle High School cafeteria where they bagged the clothes by size.
A lot of nice clothes were collected and will be put to good use. We salute our young men for doing a great job for a great cause!
